Shiv tandam stotram pdf download
From the forest of his matted lock, water flows and wets his neck, On which hangs the greatest of snake like a garland, And his drum incessantly plays damat, damat, damat, damat, And Shiva is engaged in the very vigorous manly dance, To bless and shower, prosperity on all of us.
The celestial river agitatedly moving through his matted hair, Which makes his head shine with those soft waves, And his forehead shining like a brilliant fire-daga daga, And the crescent of moon which is an ornament to his head, Makes my mind love him each and every second. The consort of the ever sportive daughter of the mountain, Whose mind rejoices at her side long glances, With the stream of merciful look which removes hardships, Makes my mind take pleasure in him who wears the directions as apparel.
May he whose foot stool is decorated By the ever flowing flower dust. May he with the raging fire In his forehead, who burnt the God of love, May He who is forever being saluted by king of devas, And may he who has collected The cool ambrosia like crescent moon on his head, And may he who wears the collection of skulls, Bless us to create wealth for us. May He whose black neck is as dark As several layers of new clouds, Packed closely on the night of the new moon. May He who wears the celestial river on his head, May He who killed the Gajasura with an elephant head, May He who is very handsome because of the crescent that he wears, And may he who carries the entire burden of the world, Bless us with all sorts of wealth.
I salute him, who shines with a black neck Similar to the well opened blue lotus, On which all the temples depend for prayer, And him who destroyed God of love, the three cities, The worldly problems and yaga destroyers, And him who destroyed elephant faced Asura and also God of death. I salute him who is like the bee who drinks the sweetened honey, That flows from the flower bunch of collection of arts of the Goddess, And him who destroyed God of love, the three cities, The worldly problems and yaga destroyers, And him who destroyed elephant faced Asura and also God of death.
Lord Shambhu always gives such people prosperity. The Shiva Tandava Stotram represents the cosmic dance of Lord Shiva that eliminates all negative energies.
The hymn includes 15 verses and each verse describes the fearless Shiva and his eternal beauty in great detail. In India, every dominant divine energy has many forms and names. Among the many virtues of Lord Shiva, the most popular one is where Shiva is addressed as Bholenath ; it means one who is innocent and easy to please.
The legend goes like this: Lord Shiva granted a boon to anyone who praised him, or performed penance with faith and devotion. All the demons took undue advantage of this and worshiped Lord Shiva as they knew that it was easy to please him and then receive a boon.
Ravana, who was a great priest, administrator, warrior, and devotee of Lord Shiva was known as the demon of demons. He loved himself and his powers a lot. The story of Shiva Tandava Stotram begins on a day when Ravana tried to lift the Kailash mountain in his hand to take Lord Shiva along with him to Lanka. As a consequence, Lord Shiva pressed his toe, and in the process, crushed the fingers of Ravana. Ravana cried in pain. To escape from the wrath of Lord Shiva, Ravana sang a hymn that came to be known as the popular Shiva Tandava Stotram.
It is said that music is the most powerful tool to please the Lord. Lord Shiva was engrossed in the music of Ravana and became immensely pleased.
When Lord Shiva told Ravana to ask for a boon, Ravana requested that the Lord confer him with the most powerful tool and thus, became indestructible. There are innumerable benefits of chanting Shiva Tandava Stotram.
Chanting or listening to Shiva Tandava Stotram confers one with immense power, beauty, and mental strength. It is said that chanting the stotram removes all negative energies and makes the atmosphere pious. When will I be able to worship Lord Sadashiva, the eternally auspicious God, With equanimous vision towards people or emperors, Towards a blade of grass and a lotus, towards friends and enemies, Towards the most precious gem and a lump of dirt, Toward a snake or a garland and towards the varied forms of the world?
Kada nilimpanirjhari nikujnjakotare vasanh Vimuktadurmatih sada shirah sthamajnjalim vahanh Vimuktalolalochano lalamabhalalagnakah Shiveti mantramuchcharan sada sukhi bhavamyaham. When I can be happy, living in a cave near the celestial river Ganga, Bringing my hands clasped on my head all the time, With my impure thoughts washed away, uttering the mantra of Shiva, Devoted to the God with a glorious forehead and with vibrant eyes? Imam hi nityameva muktamuttamottamam stavam Pathansmaran bruvannaro vishuddhimeti santatam Hare gurau subhaktimashu yati nanyatha gatim Vimohanam hi dehinam sushankarasya chintanam.
Anyone who reads, remembers and recites this stotra as stated here Is purified forever and obtains devotion in the great Guru Shiva. For this devotion, there is no other way or refuge. Just the mere thought of Shiva removes the delusion.
Sadhguru: Ravana was a fierce devotee of Shiva and there are many stories about them. He had a drum which he used to set the beat and composed verses extempore, which is called the Shiva Tandava Stotram. Shiva was so pleased and enamoured listening to this music. As he sang, slowly, Ravana started climbing Kailash from its Southern Face. When Ravana was almost on top, and with Shiva still engrossed in this music, Parvati saw this man climbing up.
